pump issues

My mk5 camper has alway been sluggish so tonight i decided to check the pump piston and sleeve. Both where clean but while removing the piston the wee pin underneath came out and now wont go back into the hole.

I used one of those telescopic manetic pick up tools. Stick the pin on the bottom with some of it sticking out - makes it easy to find and slide into the hole.
