Diff change

Postby Firms » Wed Aug 09, 2017 1:34 pm

I've now been advised that my 1997 LWB transit (motorhome) has a 5/1/4 diff and I want to reduce ratio to improve cruising ability.

Currently it runs 3000rpm at 60 and I would like to drop revs (500 approx)...On motorways I'm constantly trying to change up to 6th...which isn't there!.

Pretty sure it can take this as it has 100ps turbo diesel intercooled "banana" and pulls well.

Advise / recommendations?

Can anyone suggest company where i can take it to have this work carried...I live in Northamptonshire.

Cheers

Simon

4.63 is the one you want, Usually fitted to a minibus but others might as well. Put "6-stud diff" in the Search box for loads of info.

You can fit a 4.63 diff from a Mk6 in your axle.......same bits (but still a bit rare.....when you want one)

I contacted "Antonio Masiero" in Italy. They manufacture cw&p , not original but replacement.
They forwarded me to Spanish distributor, where i live.
Price for a 4.63 kit 300-350€.
Prob theres a dustributor in uk...
Never went for it as my 68ps engine lacks power for this diff change, im pretty sure.....

Never asked them but maybe they could manufacture a lower ratio on demand....?
