Mk5 smiley prices

Postby gavcarter » Thu Aug 10, 2017 8:49 pm

I have a mk5 smiley. I didn't pay a lot for it, because the rear arches and sills have a few holes in it. It it tested until November so does for now.
I am just finishing a mk6 7 seater off for my daily driver.
I don't really want to scrap the mk5, but it has rust issues and also a very whiney diff.

If i did the welding and put a new mot on it. How much would it be worth roughly? She's a little rough round the edges, no stereo or ply lining interior looks tired but it complete and she's only done 104,000 miles
Starts on the button and pulls very well for a 75.
Just after ballpark value to see if it worth tidying up and selling on or not....

From your description I reckon £400/ £500 with a full ticket.......so maybe not worth getting too involved.......you might might get £250/ £300 when you're finished with it and not get your hands dirty.....

Na doesn't sound like it. If it goes for scrap I'll rob some bits off it for other projects, or I may just pass it on as spares or repairs.
Funny how I've seen loads in similar state to mine asking 400-500 spares or repairs on eBay and they've dissapeard I thought they where being a bit greedy to be honest

Yea, true! I've seen a couple on eBay the last few months up for £1100. Apparently all good runners, no welding needed etc, but on the other nothing special. Just tidy-ish vans. That's what got me wondering If it would be worth doing up.
I forgot to watch them and see if they sold, and location has a lot to do with it too...

I havnt finished two wrongs yet! I'm positive you popped in to see it about 2 years ago and pick up a pump and ecu for Andy!

It's just nearing mot ready now. Needs a bit of body filler and paint, brake light is on for unknown reason, I think float is stuck, and most of the bulbs are now dead.
Exhaust needs putting on and bumpers, couple off odds and sods like that.

Not too sure if id start another project van no matter how much it worth finished as something ALWAYS puts it on hold for ages.

This time it was our latest family addition, gave the wife a very rough pregnancy then arrived 3 months early. Hes 9 months old now and I'm only just getting back to working on it lol

I had my smiley valued by a company called Hoopers after a hit and run. They came back with a trade valuation of £1750.00 due to general body condition and 70000 miles.
I know this is exceptional but yeah for me. Means I can put her back together.

Engine and gearbox are spot on and you can test drive and take the whole van if your happy. Plenty of spares too mirrors lights and I have about 3 spare wheels all 14" with half decent tires. I'd be happy to get £300 for it, then I don't take too much of a loss on it lol mot till November so could be driven home if you get temp insurance or something
