pencil injector

Postby bobbari123 » Fri Aug 18, 2017 10:30 am

Hi!
Does anyone know specs for stanadyne pencil nozzles?
i have a mk3 transit 52kw diesel.
it has a lack of power and it builds up much of black smoke and it has failed the mot.
i just bought the car , but i have owned two mk5 transits before and never had issues with smoke.
so i try to take injectors out and test them but i need to know opening pressures and things like that.
i am going to take also the intake manifold out and clean that and blank the egr, a lot of carbon deposit in intake manifold.

I found the specs.
Opening pressure for new injector 260-270 bar
Service limit 240bar.
You can easily try them with hydraulic hand pump and pressure gauge.
And right adapter fitting

Useful information. Do you know where you can get replacement tips though? I need to re condition mine also but the nearest repair shop is effing miles away.
Be careful when removing the inlet manifold. A bit of carbon came loos on mine and dropped into the cylinder locking up the engine. I had to remove the head to get it out. Not a bad thing as it meant i could decoke the whole top end and re grind the valves but was not happy at the time.

Hi.
some links:
Service manual: http://www.stanadyne.com/docs/misc/9900 ... Manual.pdf
see what injector is in your car: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=131802
Choose your injector type from list to get specs : http://www.dieselpartsworld.com/26632.html

and now just follow the service manual, i don´t have any special tools so i just take them apart and put them into ultrasonic cleaner and carefully clean tip of nozzle from carbon deposit.
also tip of that needle which is inside of nozzle.

have put petrol or kerosene into tank in the past helps emission test - with higher standards coming in euro 4 / 5 / 6 ect , and fuel is not the same these days no heavy oil , even the smell is different , governments want us to change up electric (joke ) leyland daf tried that in the 70s 7.5 ton could carry one ton .

Hi.
I succesfully serviced my injectors.
There was a lot of black smoke coming from exhaust and car was failed mot emission test and has been standing 7 years.
I bought it and first thing on my what to do list is now done.
No smoke from exhaust.
I carefully grind tips of needles under microscope with 4000 grid sandpaper without touching sealing surface just to get rid of carbon.
And outside the head of the nozzle i cleaned with brass brush.
And then i put them to ultrasonic cleaner and after that back together and adjusted opening pressure and lift and now absolutely no smoke anymore.
