Going into Limp home mode only after driving for 30 minutes

Postby ole123 » Sun Sep 03, 2017 1:44 pm

My 97 2.5 turbo diesel with epic system is going into LHM only after driving for half an hour or so. Restart the engine and it will be fine from take off but will revert back to LHM shortly after. Again this is only once i've been driving for a while, i guess when the engine heats up a bit? Runs well before then.

I had my epic pump fixed a few months ago, refitted and timed it myself, has been fine since then. is it possible that the timing may have slipped out since then? or is there something that could trigger LHM only when the vehicle is hot?

Thanks! :D

Have you double checked the timing since doing it? With correct sized pins or drill bits?

MinorMat is the font of all knowledge on the EPIC system - I'm sure he will be along in a while.

I don't look here as much as I used too...

Sounds like timing or possibly the pump temperature sensor. Needs plugging in really.

Whereabouts are you?

Thanks DodgeRover and MinorMatt, I haven't tried retiming it, thought I'd ask her before I pull anything apart haha so checking the temp sensor on the pump will be first. Not sure where it is yet but I'll Have a look tonight :)

The one I am talking about is on the side of the injection pump and is part of the pump cam sensor
