Painting Mk3 Bumpers

Postby ColinJack » Tue Sep 05, 2017 7:47 pm

The only scruffy thing on our Mk3 camper is the bumpers - understandable after 28 years I suppose.

I noticed quite a lot of the Massive have painted theirs and they look the dogs - e.g. AlanN
How is this done - obviously the paint will need to flex and stay on.

I am not an expert on vehicle paint - quite the opposite - so would appreciate some input from those in the know.
Not sure I want to spend squillions with a local paint shop and then find it doesn't work so would be happy to do it myself with guidance.

Cheers

Colin

Mk3 = plastic.
use a hot air gun.
You'll be supprised.
not the best but it'll give you the basics.

Oooh, can't wait for a reply on this. Just finished a lower half rebuild and paint. Now the bumpers look quite bad so might colour code them or do them black.

This doesn't sound good :shock: :

"Don't try this. I did and it looked as shown for a a few weeks, but after that the fenders faded and they look worse than before. Now, the discoloration is deeper and has circular shapes."
