2.5di turbo and non turbo engine difference.

Postby Boffin » Sat Oct 14, 2017 11:32 am

Hi everyone, I have a banana 2.5di in my transit, and it siezed the other day, it cooled down and turns over but no compression, I took the head off and the middle bores are scored, I have a 98 turbo engine, just wondered what the difference is with the block if anything?? I think the compression ratio is lower on the turbo engine, but I think that was different cylinder head?? Basically I'm wondering if I can put the head off my engine on the turbo block change the diesel pump and put it all back together??
Thanks for any advice.

Does it still have the turbo attached :?: If so you can use it as it is with your old pump, turn up the fuelling a little, and enjoy some more grunt

Tempting Altransit,
I might have to research this further. I was going to fit the epic stuff, have you done this with the bosch pump?? How does it run? And is turning up the pump easy enough?
Thanks mate.

Nothing to stop you using the EPIC, providing you have all of the attached wiring, ECU, keys etc, but it's far easier to use your own Bosch, as no wiring needs to be altered.
I haven't done it myself, but there are several members on here who have, and hopefully, one or two will be along soon with some input, and yes, turning up the VE pump fuelling is easy, so long as you do it in measured steps so as not to stray too far from factory settings :D
