I'm after some wisdom if I may pick your brains...
Having failed it's MOT for a leaking fuel pump my transit (2.5di non banana non turbo) went to have its fuel pump (Bosch) reconditioned to sort the leak at a specialists. Today I received a phone call to say on test driving the vechile the cam belt snapped but I've been assured these things aren't related. The garage was planning to fit a new belt and test it to see if the valves are bent etc. The cambelt was replaced 3-4 years, 10-15k miles ago (it's a camper so not used loads)
So my questions...
1) Can the fuel pump be removed and recon'd without removing cam belt?
2) would valves be bent or is this a non interference engine? On googleing I've read that it's more likely con rods/rockers would be damaged.
3) could it just be coincidence?
4) is there any way to prove the garage is at fault if indeed they are.
Cheers
