(Transit 2.5td mk5 1997 twin wheel) Maybe someone knows the value in Nm for rear axle pinion bearing preload (new pinion bearings)

There isn't a figure... you tighten it until you need a certain torque to turn the pinion (can't remember the figure off hand but something like 8NM)

Fit the pinion assembly and measure the turning torque of the new seal, then torque centre nut in incriments til the turning torque is 5(?)Lb/ft higher - the nut is fecking tight btw.

I've got a copy of the axle repair/build manual somewhere. Fairly sure the link is posted on here somewhere.

All I have ever done when just doing the seal is put a pop mark on the end of the shaft and a pop mark on the nut and count the number of turns when removing the nut then when tightening up after the same amount of turns and line up the pop marks if you want to do it the proper way the crownwheel needs to come out of the axle to set the preload and use new sleeve
