Transit 2.5 di turbo 1996 fuel pump

Postby Garryhonda » Wed Nov 01, 2017 11:30 pm

Can someone tell me the best pump to fit to 96 2.5 di turbo, I want to do away with the lucas electronic pump setup and go back to basics. Thank you.

Best pump for a TD is a lucas epic. If you want higher fuel costs, more noise and a slower (in some cases) van, but with a percieved increase in reliability the next best in order are:

Custom built with boost top, high lift cam plate and large fuel head.
154 pump (was never available in UK market)
Custom built with boost top
145 or 146 (686-2 or 686-3)
141 (686-1)
Any other 2.5Di bosch pump.

(First numbers are at the end of the part no 0 460 414 ***) bracketed ones are in larger figures on the pump also

Perhaps your epic system was faulty & wasn't giving full performance ?

It was indeed, but have driven a good epic and not impressed, this thing of mine goes like stink now, its as quick to 60 as my 66 plate 130tdci tranny I have never driven a faster Transit DI and I used to own Lincoln Transit & Commercial so driven a fair few of them

I've got a bosch turbo and an EPIC turbo.

The EPIC gets used because its a much better thing to drive. The bosch one hasn't been used since MOT and im considering selling
