Blower/de-mister

Postby Lambulance » Fri Nov 10, 2017 6:30 pm

Hi all,the blower/de-mister has decided to pack up on my 2000 plate smiley,it only works on full, and if left on for too long it makes one hell of an unnerving row.
Is this an easy fix,or am I looking at a replacement, and if so is this an easy job?
Typical now the colder wetter weather is starting to take hold!
Thanks in advance......Kev

Heater resister failed up behind dash I think on a year 2000 Transit and a pig to get at as far as I know, on both mine it’s behind drivers headlight but in 98 ish year it changed to up under the dash.

Attached are pics of the heater motor and resistor from a 1999 Smiley. You end up upside down by the clutch pedal but it is do-able. Twist the motor to remove so you can oil it then remove and replace the resistor, screws painted white. It may not be the resistor but the switch, they have been known to melt. The motor draws near to 30 amps current, it should really be fed via a relay like mine is.
