14" Wheels to 15"

Postby petermill5761 » Mon Nov 13, 2017 3:38 pm

Mk5 with 14"wheels Will 15" be a straight swap ??? Are the studs the same or are there any other rims I could use as the 14" tyres are expensive compared with 15" and getting harder to source. ATB and thanks

14" tyres are much cheaper???

Anyway - 15" transit wheels are 6 wheel studs, 14" are 5 stud.

Mk6/7/8 wheels are the right pattern but are hubcentric with flat nuts so shouldn't be fitted to a mk5.

For 15" you are looking at alloys or tata safari/loadbeta wheels

Decent tyres cost more Van rated start around £40 Yes you can buy them cheap I wouldn't like my family riding round in a dangerous Vehicle

You don't want to use Mk6/7 steel wheels then!

Do you really think £40 is expensive for a van tyre?

A quick black circles check... 185R14 michelin is £87 fitted, a 215/70/15 (standard on 150SWB) is £122. A 195/70/15 (mk6 size) is £92

Still can't see how 15s are cheaper? Maybe I am missing something here...
