I would be interested in the pinto as another spare for mine depending on how much you want and where you are.

hello Johnathan you tell us that the van will be uneconomical to run but dont tell us what mpg you are getting ?
The carbs on the pinto were well known for wearing out and causing terrible fuel economy but in good condition 20-22mpg should be easy
I do not see any solutions given, that are less than a £1000 and the carb will be less than £150 . bear in mind there are lots of us who would give the supposed fuel savings of a modern diesel back for the ability to service diagnose and fix our own vans , sometimes simple is best

Forgive me for I may have missed something but there is not many engines as simple as the Ford 2.5Di as longs as it has the Bosch pump fitted!

The guy is considering fitting a more modern diesel “VW” was mentioned he stated that the Ford di wasnt economical enough, he isn’t implying the di isn’t simple only that he wanted better fuel economy, that’s how I read it anyway.

Also he lives inside the LEZ where no banana's are allowed , re the Zetec they are very good engines and you can buy a complete Focus or mondeo for next to nothing

No modern diesels fitted to older vans allowed in the LEZ either unless you want to go for an eminox exhaust etc...

If it's registered as a camper and under 2.5 tonne gross (ie an 80 or downrated), it's not subject to LEZ so any diesel engine can be fitted.

I have had a read through all the above. Where does it say he lives inside the "LEZ"?
