Loose dipstick how far into the block?

Postby Dan19872 » Sun Dec 17, 2017 10:32 am

Hi, I'm having abit of a nightmare!

The tube has come out of the block with the dipstick & I don't know how far I should be trying to tap it back in? I've checked other threads for a solution which has been very helpful but Im scared I'll try & smack it in to far!

Any help will be massively appreciated!

Thank you.

you should be able to see how far it goes into the block (unpainted) superglue or metal weld holds them in, you wont have to tap or smack it

Mine had the weeble wobbles.
Pull the tube out /clean it and give a quick rub with abrasive paper.
clean the hole it goes into.

Apply bearing/stud adhesive to the bottom of the tube.
Push the tube back in (no hammering required just work it side to side ) It'll bottom out when it's fully seated.

Angle the tube so the dipstick doesn't foul on anything when checking the oil and wait for the adhesive to cure.
Did mine over 2 years ago and it hasn't moved.

You mean the dipstick tube is not meant to move?

Did you wrap toilet paper around the base of the tube and bash it back in with a 4lb hammer?
