Another EPIC story

Postby sputy » Wed Dec 20, 2017 2:05 pm

My 1995 European mk5 turbo smiley has developed a diesel drip from the diesel pump.

I have read this thread http://fordtransit.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=69451 so if it's a similar problem it might not be too bad to fix.

I have a retired DI too which ran fine (died of chassis rust) and it has this pump on it , is this one of the hallowed bosch pumps ? if so would I be best junking the epic
pump and electronics , and would it all fit ok , with adding a normal manual throttle ?

Thanks in advance

What is the number etched on the rectangular flat area left side of the main pump housing in the pic?

Shame that I didn't get any info, apart from Jim Archer ... anyway I discovered that the leak only happens in cold weather, so, for now, I'm not going to mess about with it unless it gets worse.

Fix the leak and save the bosch pump and all the rest of the relevant parts required to fit it in case the lucas fails epically. :D

sputy, judging by the photos, your Bosch still retained the factory settings. This is good, since the pump can be in good condition and not subjected to unqualified interference.
It can be installed on a turbo engine instead of EPIC, but you need to change the factory settings.
It will be necessary to increase the cyclic fuel supply in the entire speed range with a safety screw, this screw and the fuel cutoff valve are hidden by a metal casing.
It will be necessary to change the adjustment of the corrector for pressure in order to increase the fuel supply at low engine speeds.
This is achieved by screwing the screw under the steel lid on the "fungus" hydraulic corrector.
It may be necessary to increase the initial angle of the injection setting to improve the start of the cold engine. This is achieved by turning the TNVD shaft clockwise while the timing belt of the injection pump is fixed by the timing belt.
Probably, it is necessary to make other, more complicated operations on adjustment, but without disassembly of the pump.
The TNVD tuned in this way can ensure the full retention of the power of an 85-horsepower engine and a slight reduction in the power of a 100 strong motor.

Thank you all !

I'm still with the EPIC, in fact just passed the emissions for the MOT , I will probably take the pump off the donor transit to prevent theft
