Finding parts for my mk4...

Postby eastkent » Wed Jan 03, 2018 6:33 pm

Bit of a nightmare sometimes! It's a lhd Portugese import with a 2.5di 'nana engine and the VIN comes up with the following:

VIN Number TW2LXXCPVLRM22612

Transit 1995-2000, Diesel 2.5 (80PS)
First Registration Date: 22.07.1994
Registration Country: PT
Build Date: 15.08.1994
Vehicle Line: Transit 1995-2000
Cab Style: Regular Cargo Van
Series: 120
Engine: Diesel 2.5 (80PS)
Transmission: 5-Speed Manual Transmission - MT75
Drive: LHD RWD
Axle Ratio: 4.56
Transmission: EEC 5TH Emission Requirements
Territory: (+)"PT"

So... when I'm looking for parts am I looking for a 1994 van or a 1995? Is it a mk4 or a mk5, or...?

All I'm trying to find (this time anyway) is a new expansion tank cap!

What can the experts tell me about it?

You've got an MK4 (1992-1994). MK5 is the smiley.

Thanks. That's what I thought, but why does the VIN come up with "Vehicle Line: Transit 1995-2000"?

Dunno, mine's listed as a 150L while in fact it's a 100L, so apparently not all figures are correct.
Yours First Registration Date: 22.07.1994 vs. Build Date: 15.08.1994 does not make sense either.
