Bit of an odd one... anyone know how to hotwire a Mk5?

Postby emmetyak » Tue Jan 09, 2018 2:17 pm

So yeah, I've lost my keys. Again. Yes, I am an idiot.

Anyone know if it's possible to disable the steering lock and destroy the ignition barrel in such a way that it can be turned with a screwdriver?

Not worried about aesthetics, and I live in an extremely rural are so theft not a problem!

Can upload a pic of the barrel if necessary.

Thanks in advance!

It’s an old van and I doubt there high up the chain for theft , but I can’t honestly see someone publishing how to on the post , good chance of a PM instead

Don't play about with steering locks. A recovery guy chiselled mine off, cost me a complete new lock and column.
Assuming you can get in the van remove the steering column complete and take it to a locksmith.
