Postby dick » Wed Jan 24, 2018 7:15 pm

hello, can someone please confirm which length cable i should buy, 1275 mm or 1495mm checked various suppliers and both are compatible, would the longer one have any obvious drawbacks??? cheers

When I've done clutch cables in the past the only difference was at the pedal end, whether it has an adjuster thread, or a self adjusting end. I don't think the longer length will be a problem, but others may know different.

I've never looked at the length - just fit it.

I would get the cheapest!

FORD 1?
This is a rough guess.
2x the price of a decent aftermarket one.
probably the same cable with ford stamped on though :?

you can try both 1275 mm or 1495 mm, but make sure it will fit correctly.

Clutch cable on my 1998 2.5TD went yesterday and I was lucky enough to be able to get the manual adjusted one in Australia but before I start, is there a "how to" for this job as I don't want to gget caught up half way through the replacement.
Should be fairly easy but I would like to know first and can't find anything in Haynes or on the TIS disk for 1998 models.
Thanks in advance

I changed mine a couple of weeks ago and it was fairly easy. Clutch fork on the gearbox end is straight forward. Pedal end if its the manual adjuster is easy also once you flip the piece where the cable fits up on the pedal so you can slot in the squared end into the adjuster and then just flip it back. Don't know how to load pics unfortunately as I took one of the pedal.

I did mine last week and discovered it was auto adjustment and the parts van was manual. Real easy to swap the pedals just take off the retainer clip and the pedal comes off with a squeeze past the fire wall
