The cam ring is magnetized from the magnet in the sensor.
A "coat" of steel sawdust is more on the sensor-there is a magnet stronger.
Cleaning the sensor will enable the EPIC to continue working.
While you're looking for another injection pump.

Thanks guys. That has given me the inspiration to try and fix the epic. It did run really well before the light came on and i can keep the bosch bits for later if i fail to fix it or even if i succeed and then the epic fails again and i can't be arsed. But if the recurring problem is just a sensor, (which i have tested in a static, engine off state, amd it was within resistance limits) then i will be happy to change it every couple of years if that will keep it running sweetly.
Chuggy, is that citroen epic tutorial good for the transit epic?

As with the Bosch VE, the Lucas Epic is physically the same internally as on other makes, its just that some parts will be different specs like camplate sizes, there are some good videos on you tube.

The EPIC injection pump is of two types: type 70 and type 80.
70 has two plungers, type 80 has four plungers.
Indicators of the pump determines the control unit.
There is still a difference within the type depending on the year of release.
Such pumps have a different form of electrical connector.
I have a link to the site of the firm Delphi, where there are addresses of service centers around the World.
