Drivers side door Lock

My drivers side door will not unlock. It will not open from the inside using the internal handle. The internal handle after being pulled always returns to showing the white door locked indicator. I have had a new key made following reading posts relating to worst worn lock and key combination but this made no difference. Any idea's?

Managed to get it open. With window down there is a small opening in the top of the lock casement. With a "coathanger" tool with small l shaped bend it was possible to work the key from the outside and the connector rod from lock to door handles and get the door open. Probably a worn lock that is not releasing the handles. Still darent lock it again though!!
