Engine will not rev

Postby Wayne Bywater » Sun Apr 22, 2018 5:03 pm

After changing the diesel pump the engine will run on easy start but it wont rev up.
the year is a 1997 banana engine 2.5 litre non turbo.
I pinned the engine using 3 pins than took the diesel pump off and replaced.

The motor is easily started, but does not gain momentum?
Do I understand correctly?

from the first post it'll run on easy start but not after the spray has been burnt.
I might be wrong though.

takes ages to get fuel up mate, be prepared to flatten a battery. on side of the pump is a bleed off port, loosen it then crank the engine untill fuel pisses out and close it, you will now have fuel in the pump. One tip I got is to fit a one way valve high up on the fuel feed to the pump and you never have to do this again.
