4DA banana engine timing belt kit

Postby eastkent » Wed Apr 25, 2018 2:59 pm

Could someone please tell me which belt I need?? There's so many different ones!

Also, I'm sure I remember seeing a how-to related to this but I can't seem to find it now...

Many thanks.

You need a belt with a tooth height of 3.5 mm (M-shaped profile) with a width of 25.4 mm. I do not know the number of teeth.
Up to 92 years the height of the tooth is 2.5 mm, width 25.4 mm.
After 98 years for TD the height of the tooth is 3.5 mm, the width can be 28 mm.

Thanks. I've become quite suspicious of compatibility lists where this van is concerned.

Best you can do is buy both belts/kits with the agreement you can return the wrong one unopened. As mentioned you may have a newer/older engine. The Haynes book has good description of how to change the belt.
