engine swap??

Postby bjm » Wed Apr 25, 2018 4:05 pm

hi there,
i have a 1989 mk3 lwb twin wheel,190 campervan, with the original diesel in it, it starts and runs fine, but now have been given a ldv,reg number hx51 fxd,
twin wheel, lwb mini bus. with a power stearing box, and turbo diesel in it,

the camper is great fun but as you can guess there is no power on hills, even tryed the suggestions on this site with little change.
what i would like to know is will the engine and gearbox along with the power steering box fit the transit with out to much messing?

many thanks for any suggestions, good or bad

Bit more info would help.
From memory ldv presuming it is a 2.5di and not a 2.4 dura junk  will be a straight fit but it will be turbo so most likely will be Lucas epic pump which is electronic and not a straight fit but can be fitted with later transit mechanical pump but your old pump will be a Lucas cav type from new so don’t think it can be used :!:
The gear box will be a straight fit if again the engine is a 2.5di.
The steering box don’t have a clue but I doubt it will be the same but others on here will no hth.
