Replacing bonnet

Postby plainlazy » Fri May 04, 2018 1:23 am

Hi All

I am about to replace my rust filled bonnet on my 1990 Transit with a new one. Is this a straight forward job ?
Any advice would be helpful ?

2 ways to do this. Either

1. remove the 4 bolts and lift bonnet away from van

2. remove engine and van away from bonnet, involves more bolt removal.

Ha ha, very good! Seriously, place pads of rags under the corners to prevent damage the paint. Draw pencil lines on the fixing plates to give an idea of where the hinges should be.

The new bonnet does not come with any furniture so to say, so I have to take of the badge, the lock and sound proofing from my old bonnet.
