2.5DI How are the rockers lubricated

Postby ceurieusneus » Wed May 09, 2018 7:28 am

For the Transit Brains. 8)
Yesterday, I checked the valve clearance, for the first time sinds i bought the Transit. (Covered more than 20.000km witd it)
To my opinion, I found, whatever under the rocker cover pretty dry. My experience is of diesel engines off a total different size.
Before I start dismanteling, can anyone of you tell me how the rockers are lubricated?

I start getting more and more respect for this engine, some exhaust valves had a clearance of more than 1 mm!
Thanks guys

Internal oil way. Here's 1 I broke earlier.
Small top hole feeds the shaft and lubricates the rockers via holes along it's length.ImageImage

Thanks Coalman
That was a quick respons :D
A picture tells a thousend words... 8)
Oil pressure was always 4-5 bar running and +1 bar idling.
Had the idee, the oil canal looks to big to get blocked.
Had the rocker cover mounted and had it running for 1/4 hour.
Looked Ok ( true he oil filling pipe) Maybe it was so dry because it hadn't been used for a month.
Probably the oil, half synthetic and short intervals, did the rest and made the Inside so clean.

Hi,ceurieusneus.
You can start the engine and remove the mechanism cover.
You can see how the oil comes to the details of the mechanism.
Or does not act.
This can be evidenced by 1 mm clearances.
I usually check the Zazars through 50,000 km of run and they are close to normal.
