On the rod that comes from the bottom of the handbrake lever wear it meets the cables on the end of the rod is a nut tighten it up take up the slack if it’s not that type it will have a barrel nut one end is left hand thread the outher end is right hand thread undo lock nuts and tighten it up you may need to put heat on them if wd does not free them off but I’d try adjusting the brakes first

The handbrake has a device for self-tuning.
This complex device can (should) compensate for wear shoes, but often malfunctioning.
It is necessary to remove both wheels, remove the brake drums, replace the worn shoes and rusty gear parts, replace the leaking brake cylinders, remove the shoulder from the inner surface of the drums, extend the threaded regulator and assemble the mechanism.
When installing drums, you need to establish a minimum gap between it and the shoes.
Then repeat everything on the other side of the car.
Then you can tighten the threaded regulator so that the lever of the handbrake rises for three or four clicks.
Check the operation of the handbrake.
If necessary, remove air from the hydraulic brake system.
