Knocking from front suspension

Postby VMH » Sat Jun 02, 2018 11:50 pm

Hi.
My 1995 smiley has a knocking noise from the left hand front end over bumps which was intermittent, came and went, but is now getting quite bad.
I replaced the anti roll bar bushes which were badly worn but still doing it.
I have jacked the front up and checked all the joints and bushes but can't find anything wrong except for a creaking noise from the suspension strut on that side when I turn the steering.
It did have a badly repaired front end smash some time before I bought the van and is sitting lower on that side. I am wondering if the strut could be bent?
It goes through the MOT no problem every year.
Anyone got any ideas?

Loose bumpstops inside the top spring coil turrets...

Quite common for the coil spring to come out the top rubber mount and hit the crossmember

Ok Thanks. Will have a look at that.
We do live at the end of a mile long dirt track.

Cuff and knock in the front suspension can do anything.
Opening is half a square.
