Mk 5 Smiley PATS/immobiliser issue

Postby winterandrew » Thu Jun 07, 2018 7:31 pm

Hi

Need help. My smiley camper has decided to give up starting, really bad timing as i'm taking it away on honeymoon in a few weeks. I'll list what i know below and hope that someone knows of somebody in the Corby area who can help.

I have a MK5 2.5 turbo ex minibus converted to camper
It was starting until played up once, then started once and since nothing
I only have one key
I never dropped the key
Timpson can see the key code when scanned
The immobiliser flashes code 32
I have checked the fuses
It has a Lucas fuel pump
The pump has only probably done 4000 (I don't know if it was reconditioned or a new part)
It was prone to a bit of water getting in around the top corner of windscreen
Had auto electrician out but didn't tell me nothing i don't already know from reading up on this forum(he even mentioned this forum!)

I guess i'm asking for a good old school auto sparky who has the old Ford equipment and does mobile in the Corby area.(could possibly tow it if pushed)

Mate did you checked the Pats box behind dash for corossion on inlet pins thats the standard problem on them, even more if you have a leak on windscreen. Pats box was located behind dash passenger side bulkhead. Try there. Cheers

In some cases yes if you can clean contacts and spray a contact cleaner it could help but in some its allready dead. Try you cant lose anything. If its dead you can do the Bosch conversion and then ditch the pats and Ecu, but only if your gearbox is manual, auto you cant.

Checked the pins on the PATS and they look fine, no obvious corrosion. Likely to be Knackered module or ECU fault?

Have you looked at the relay and fuse in the box under bonnet ?
It's above chassis leg on drivers side, this relay and fuse is for PCM,if faulty you will get the fault you describe as the PCM won't respond to pats module, also check the fuses top right in fusebox in van.
I imagine your getting the rapid flash on immobiliser LED,but is the red engine lamp working for the epic system ?

Bit late maybe - but I concur with Frag. Check the fuse in there too
