Mk 5 - 1998 VG cruise control

Postby Lemuel » Fri Jun 08, 2018 9:12 am

Hi, I currently own a 1998 VG (high roof van), and would really like to put cruise control on it. I have searched through the interwebs, and can't seem to find an aftermarket kit. Is it possible to put cruise control on my van?

If so, where do I find one? (don't care if it's genuine or an aftermarket kit, so long as it works)
Are there any sneaky tips I need to be aware of if so?

Thanks for any help!

As an ex HGV driver, the only "cruise control" you need is your brain, concentration and right foot.
You take a micro sleep and you're in a 50 - 70 mph unguided missile.
With all the "smart" motorways changing speeds so often when will you be able to ..... cruise?
CC should be banned. Hate it, always refused to use it.

I Have installed the Waeco Magicspeed MS50 universal cruise on my campervan:

Pretty affordable (130 euro's) and does what it's supposed to. I like it.

Installation is pretty straightforward. Hardest part was that my van has an EPIC setup. I welded a small lever to my throttle pedal to attach the cable to.

What sort of engine do you have? I have a 2.5 lt Turbo diesel. Did you need to add anything to the kit? It's very affordable!

2.5td with epic system, 86ps.

You need to find a way to attach it to your throttle pedal, if you have an epic system that is. I welded a small lever to my pedal to attach the cruise cable to. Other than that all bits are included.
