rear brake shoe replace

hi all
ive got a duetto lwb 1996 van that i need to replace a rear brake wheel cylinder and brake shoes
the haynes manual says i need to remove half shaft and hub to do this ???
can the shoes and cylider be replaced without removing hub? thanks george

If it’s 15 inch wheel model I just changed mine and didn’t remove anything other than the shoes and brake cylinders, I can’t comment on the smaller 14 inch type but the heavy axel you definitely don’t remove half shafts.

On the 14 "version everything changes without problems.

On the twin wheel or the single wheel 6 stud axel it all depends on if you can get the drum off most of the time it’s easier to take the complete hub off
