Potentially lost keys

Postby Optomisticnick » Sun Jun 17, 2018 10:35 am

So I can’t find my main van key and have a strong suspicion I dropped somewhere on my own road where the van Is parked but having checked around and asked everywhere I could think of I still can’t find it. It’s not the end of the world as I have two spares but annoyingly I have a crook lock on the wheel which the only keys I had for were on the lost set. Also I had a key ring on them that has the potential to identify the van. So my questions are:

Firstly how to remove the crook lock? I have an angle grinder would that do it?
Is it worth replacing the locks? Mainly because they seem hard to come by.
Can I just replace the ignition? On the basis the van is fairly easy to get in to anyway.

Cheers

Nick.

Angle grinder will do. If you've got an asthmatic battery-powered one it's worth using the 1 mm wide disc, they consume less energy for the same cut (if you don't use them anyway). And protect anything against the flying sparks, they even burn themselves into the glass (I created some handy non slip glass in my barn door when I found out about this :)).

Most good locksmiths can sort out keys, try one. Worked for me.
