New engine and injection pump immobiliser issue?

Postby allegroequipe » Sat Jul 28, 2018 9:31 pm

Hello all, I've had a quick search but no luck yet.
I've swapped out my engine today after 190k miles and replaced with an 83k one and all ancillaries.
Turn the ignition key and nothing, just dash lights and I think the immobiliser flashes differently than before.

Its a Mk5 di with Bosch injection pump.

Is there something I need to do to reset the immobiliser? Can't think of anything else unless the starter is goosed, looks quite new though.

Cheers
Darren

After an hour on the forums searching I can't quite find the same issue buy I'm guessing I need to swap the new rim module on the pump for my old one? Just using the chip key won't reset it?

Yes, you need the original RIM module, which is matched to the PATS on your van, or you'll need to get the new RIM module coded to your van.

When correctly matched, the PATS light will go solid when you turn on the ignition, and then go out. If it flashes fast, then there is a problem.

Thanks for confirming. Just removing the pump....wish I known yesterday! Not entirely sure the connector looks the same, soon see!

:? How could it not be the same if it was originally on your van and connected up :? or have I misunderstood what you're saying :)

Hi, the new engine came with a pump on it. The connector for the immobiliser at the pump end was different, mine had a black plastic box which went over the single wire that goes onto the bolt. Mine also had a larger metal shroud.
Serial No's are the same on the pumps though. All back together now, waiting for the battery to charge so I can crank the air out!
