Automatic 1999, engine lagging before engaging

Postby MsJinnifer » Tue Aug 07, 2018 9:30 pm

Hi -- I hope someone can help. I went to manoeuver my Transit camper out of a tightish space this morning and found that the engine was not engaging with the Drive or Reverse selection straight away. It would only engage if I revved hard, holding it on the handbrake on a slight slope that it normally copes with fine. Scary. It happened again when I had to stop on the road -- nothing, until I increased the revs, then of course it shot forward! The automatic transmission is fine once it gets going -- changes smoothly and promptly.
Apologies if I'm not using trhe right technical terms.
Ideas?
Many thanks.

Hiya.

I haven't had a lot of experience with auto boxes.
Although
Check the transmission flud level and condition of the fluid.
Could be low/needs a change.
ne m'écoute pas je suis plein de merde.
A house without a dog is like a forum without a BJT.
Too bloody quiet
