Mk5 passenger airbag deactivate

Postby Klmi » Wed Apr 03, 2024 10:35 pm

Hi there,

I need to transport my newborn in the front row of my Mk5. Unfortunately I can't turnoff the passenger airbag as there is no way build in.
Is there a way to deactive it completely or some spare parts to add as module to turn it off by key?

Is there any other facing this issue and might already have a solution to the problem?

As far as I my local dealers told me there is no approved solution from Ford but anyway, maybe there is a third party component which can be used as a substitute and later the modification can be added to the vehicle papers by the German TÜV. I found a couple of alternatives but none of them work in Ford...

Looking forward to any suggestions you may come up with :)

Passenger airbag was an option - so unplug and fit an airbag module from one without passenger airbag... or use a resistor and capacitor in to tricking the system in to thinking its working.

Then remove airbag and fit the "blank" that fits in its place?

Or.... put a suitable switch switch in to disconnect the airbag and connect the resistor/capacitor instead if you need it disabled?
