Gas struts

Postby diverobin » Thu Apr 04, 2024 2:24 pm

Hi all

Maybe a dumb question, but which way up should gas struts be fitted? I need new ones for the rear door, and according to some chap on YouTube the existing ones are upside down. Does it even make a difference?

Cheers

I think it does help to have it the right way up, the oil inside keeps the seal lubricated which helps it last longer. You should have the larger part at the top and the metal pole sticking out at the bottom. However I don't think it matters that much so I wouldn't worry.
