Lost Key - Van in France

Postby SteveHogg » Thu Mar 05, 2009 9:14 pm

Hi,

Some assistance needed. I've lost the only key I have for my van and it's in the middle of France. It is a chubb transponder key. I have managed to get a key cut from the number (supplied by the technical dept) so I can now open the doors and release the steering lock but of course the van won't crank or start. I can of course energise the starter with a remote live cable but I'm not sure how to 'hot wire' the bosch injection pump. It's a naturally aspirated engine so no ecu problems. There are three wires that go to the injector pump will energising one of these open the fuel shut off valve? if so which one? if not how else can the fuel solenoid be opened? I can get the new key programed back in the uk but local French Ford dealers can't help. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately you will not be able to energise the pump solenoid by energising any of the three wires :|

A local auto-locksmith should be able to help you, but am surprised that Ford will/can not :o

Do the French Ford johnnys just shrug their shoulders and say 'non'? If you were German they'd help you!

Thanks for the comments so far. If I can't open the valve electrically can it be done mechanically?

The black solenoid energising wire is behind the PATS box on the back of the pump. Mine was unbolted to get at it when the PATS failed. :?

Hello there dew to the info your asking for on an open forum people don't like to answer this, so your best bet will be to try to find a local auto lock smith if possible.

It's a 1999.

So if I remove the cover there will be a black wire behind which controls the solenoid? I'll try that tomorrow. Thanks

It was difficult enough to find a local Ford dealer nevermind an auto locksmith. The new key had to be cut in the UK because the French guys said it couldn't be done.

the early system doesnt have a RIM module and is even easier to bypass

PATS 2 system just needs 12v at the correct wire, if you know where to find that its piece of pi$$

BUT im not going to say it on an open fourm :D

Hi,
I appreciate your comments so far and your reluctance to discuss such items on an open forum, however I am now at the point where I scrap the van if I can't get any help.
How can I tell if I've got the early system or pats2? Would you be willing to explain in a pm what I need to do. I don't want to remove or kill the pats system, just bypass it temporarily so I can get the van to a uk dealer to have the new key programmed.
