What weight can I carry?

Postby Aardvark » Thu Aug 27, 2009 1:45 pm

Need a quick answer if poss- what is the max. weight I can carry in the back of my '99 Mk5 lwb 190 hitop?
I want to bid on Ebay for a Kubota tractor that will fit in the back easily but weighs in at 1080 lbs. Would rather
stick it in the back than borrow a trailer and tow all the way to UK from France and back again.

If you do search, there is many threads answering this question. Also if you look on your passenger side step, there are the weights for your van specified. ...or alt least should be...

Depending what else you have in the back of your van, it will easily carry the 500(ish)kg of that tractor  A 190 should be good for at least 1500kg of load 8)
You just need some ramps to load it :D

Thanks for the info. I tried a search but it only came up with 2 results, neither were much help. But it sounds like I'll be OK. Now all I have to do is win the auction. These little tractors seem to make stupid money even with high hours and in very tatty condition. Treble that price in France.
Shame I couldn't fit big herringbone tyres to the Tranny and use that...............
