Hi mate, assuming that you still would like to go the Essex 'route', once you have acquired your engine, we will put together all the other parts you may be short of.

It would be good to get your van in the shop in the new year, let me know how you have got on with the engine.

Hi I have just picked up a transit auto with a pinto efi lump in it, only done 88k and as auto and disabled vehicle it's never been thrashed, full service history
The reverse gear has gone so i'm wondering if I should bother trying to fix the box or break the van, what would this engine be worth with the efi on it, i have never seen one before, it depends what the van's worth in bits as to if i spend time fixing the box or break it,
cheers

it's a very late mk4 m reg, i'm not a fan of the old pintos if i'm honest but this one seems much nicer than any i've had before, sounds different too and more power than i remember any other pinto i've had having (and i've had a lot!)
If the engine is worth a few bucks then it might be worth me breaking the van, shame though as it's a solid van, I just don't think I can do a gearbox and even if i could it's finding a good one that will fit if it needs a new one!!

Efi pinto has a different cam in it so has a about 15% more power and economy than the carbed ones, probably got short gearing on it as well being an auto which will make it feel lively.

Fit the 2.9 v6 much better engine that the pinto in a van. Just use an ex Granada engine and autobox.

Can I ask what is involved with the paperwork when converting to petrol? Does it have to have an engineers report?I am looking at a Ford motor home based on the Transit LWB.They did make the Duetto in petrol form but they are quite rare and as I live very close but not in the LEZ,it would be a good alternative to a particulate filter.
