Engine number location

Postby DarkLegend » Mon Oct 23, 2006 11:05 pm

Appologies if this topic has been done to death, had a search and didn't return anything conclusive.

Just wondering where to find the engine number on a 2.5d.

Van is an '87, but i'm not discounting that it may well have been swapped out for a newer model at some stage, so if it changed during the production i'd like to know anywhere it may be located!

Thanks

On a Dutch reg document the engine number is'nt listed or the colour of the vehicle, I suppose they feel it's not necessary.

AAARRRGH ! The post isn't done to death if you STILL cant find the engine number. lol. Here is where i found mine.....on the side of the sump lip, driver side, toward the rear of the engine, well right at the bell housing, obscured by engine bracket. Found it using a telescopic camera!!. If you slide your left hand along the side of the block where it meets the sump, all the way back, between the engine mount and the block, extend your middle finger until it hits the bell housing. Your finger is now on a machined flat with the number on it. use emery, spray and rag. If you have someone plant their face in next to the brake booster, with a torch they will see your finger. Good luck
