No Transit Di ever had heater plugs, Some european ones do have a Flame Start plug, but that is quite differant to a glow plug

Only just found this forum! I have an ex bt 120, owned it for around 5 years.Last few winters whenever frost arrives I get the cold starting problem, luckily we live at the top of a hill. A few weeks ago I remembered there is a previously unused water heater under the van from the bt days.Googled operating instructions and set timer to come on half hour before starting. Not only does she start straight away now but also a lovely warm cab waiting for me!
My 2.5 Di wont start on cold mornings :!: it has been fine all summer but whenever its cold it wont start :(
do you think it will be the glowplugs :?:
Buy a thermostart unit (cost about £20-30),wire it through a push button, and pipe fuel to it from a small container just above it to allow a gravity feed. Most inlet manifolds have a blanking plug you can remove and the"hotstart" unit will screw in.Once wired in all you need to do is press button for about 15-20 secs and it will fire up instantly.!!

Completely unnecessary in the UK if your van is properly maintained

If your van is hard to start in winter what solved it for me was adding fuel system cleaner to the diesel in the tank. I've even added a gallon of parrafin per tankfull in the winter and never had a problem.

Completely unneccesary on a UK Transit, as long as it is properly maintained
