If you need to do that then your pump is badly worn.

[quote="Angel205"]mainly posting on it so I remember to come back and read it properly[/quote]The 'bookmark' function is useful for doing that.

The BBCode is not working on this topic, by the way - that's why the formatting is odd and no 'sig'.

can i get a CSC sticker... when ive the time and headspace ill digest this thread and solve the bugger... any thoughts on using a space heater on the engine bay in the cold weather just to take the chill off... as seems to be the way, good as gold all summer but once the cold hits turn turn turn flat... seems to be once the temp outside even thinks about hitting minus numbers!

still the best bus ive ever had!!!!!!

That would work but ultimately you need to check the connections and service it using the correct 5w30 semi-synthetic oil.

Can i ask, always 5 30 oil? i did the change and filter 500 miles ago and did think it span a little slower (ears and brain both pretty shot!)
but i was advised on 10 40! (bennets £32 for 20 ltrs)

10w40 should be mineral oil if used but you are better off with 5w30 semi-synthetic.

I had this exact problem the battery i had was - part no 069 CCA SAE 570amps AH(20h) 65amps which is what all the books say you should have.

I changed it to -part no 249 730 amps 90amps and i have not had a days trouble since.

Although i am already regretting i ever said that !!!!!

I have a 2.5tdi and have had a problem starting in the cold mornings, i had the glowplugs replaced last year so new they were fine. It turns out that it was a relay that was playing up, if you open your main fuse box under the bonnet and look to the top you will see two big grey relays one to the left and one to the right, the one on the left is to work the heater plugs, try replacing that. Also my heater plug light was comming on when driving and i was loosing power, i havent had that problem since.

You dont get glowplugs on a 2.5 Di, you must have a 2.4 Duratorq, which is not relevant to this thread
