Minibus seats layout differences between 14 and 17 seats

Postby eamonnl2004 » Tue May 14, 2013 7:26 pm

Hi all,

in need a bit of major help. Tried trawling the internet without much success but come across this forum which joined and hoping to pick some knowledgable brains.

I have a 17 seat MK7 59 plate minibus which every seat needs replacing. Now i was aware of this when getting vehicle, but I can find any clarifications as to what seats from what models fit?

im getting information that the 14 seats wont fit in the 17 seat vehicle. So i can look at buying them all seperate over time on ebay etc. But im not sure how to tell which seats are compatible with my floor if this all makes sense. I didnt know if anyone has any documents or references that will help me narrow down to know which seats will mount into the original fittings as finding all 17 for sale is proving a bit more difficult then first thought.

Also anyone reading selling 17 please get in contact.

Cheers

May i ask why you need to change the seats? Are they torn? If yes why dont you retrim them?

Could you find someone who has a 14 seater and go see it and draw a diagram how the seat bolt to the floor?
Try auto trader to find a 14 seater near you.

The 17 seat is a Jumbo body.
The 14 seaters are a LWB standard body.
The seats are all engineered to fit the specific location, so the legs are differing lengths to match the floor. Add in seat belt fittings, and it got VERY complicated.
I would stick to fitting 17 seat specific without trying to adapt anything else?
As said above, why are you switching seats???
Bear in mind it's 6 years since I stopped writing the parts catalogue, so some details are a bit 'fuzzy' these days!
I wrote the book, once.

Is the difference not simply that the 17 sweater has an extra row at the back? And that all the other seats are in the same location?

The first row on a 14 seater is a three bum job but on the 17 seater its a two seater.

Doesn't make any difference there, a three seater will also fit in a 17 seater as the extra holes are already there.
