Mk7 twin battery question

Just bought a mk7 transit which has been sitting about for 6 months and the batteries are dead, always needs jumpleads.

After a quick search on the forum, i see it is probably the front battery (100 one) that needs replacing, but is it worth replacing the larger 110 battery too?

what does that one control?? - Also, silly question but will dead batteries affect the vans overall performance and mpg??

Yep straight swap and it controls locking lights ecu etc as for mpg yes it will till it relearns

It would be best to replace both batteries at the same time.

The front battery is the Aux battery, does all the electronics

The rear battery is the starter battery

I just replaced my two batteries on the mk7 £110 for 2 top spec exide ones, so its not to expensive, and well worth changing both at the same tome for peace of mind

I am looking at fitting a twin battery split charge to my MK6 are OE parts available for this to? Are there any differences I should be aware of?

There was no split charge option on mk6, the batteries were just linked together

It isn't worth making one, you can buy one for £5.99 and it will shove 20 amps into the second battery.
