Euro 5 egr blanking

Postby Steve192 » Sun Jul 23, 2017 2:25 pm

Hi, as title says.

What effect does blanking the egr have on a 2012 euro 5 transit?

No need to blank it. Get a map done with egr delete and it should stay shut. Had mine done and I have not had any detrimental effects.

Hi mate,

I've looked in to getting a remap with egr delete and dpf delete also. I'm just concerned as to wether the egr is itself stuck open or closed and wether that's going to affect it.

Have you had the dpf delete on your map?

If so, Did you also physically remove the dpf?

My van is euro 4 so no dpf. If your egr is working as it should now then the map will keep it closed

You'll have problems passing MOT in future with EGR and/or DPF not working or missing....they'll be testing them at MOT time soon.

As far as egr testing, won't happen any time soon ,brexit blah blah. I must agree with you if and when it happens however, turning egr back on is a 2min job opposed to blanking plate removal. DPF don't know, ain't got one. One could also debate the issues regarding cats , where folks have drilled them out ect . would be a very expensive for all this new test equipment . how many testing stations would be prepared to lash out thousands

Starting from August 2017 Commercial vehicles such as Lorries, busses etc. Will be subjected to "Road side emissions tests".
All DPF's, EGR valves etc will be checked to made sure they are operational & not been removed/bypassed etc.

If vehicle emission systems have been removed or inoperative. Owners/operators will be given 10 days to have emissions systems repaired.
If they don't, DVSA will issue a fine & ban the vehicle being used on the road :!:

DVSA's final plan for tackling vehicle nitrogen dioxide emissions, will be published on July 31st

Rules regarding EGR, DPF's are the same new rules due to be added to MOT tests from late 2017

At the moment checks are for commercial vehicles from August 2017. Although DVSA's aim is to include ALL VEHICLES
Will know actual time line when DVSA's final plan is published on July 31st.

On a euro 5, is it possible to just unplug the egr like you can on a euro 4? My euro 4 was a different van with it unplugged, better on fuel and more responsive lower down the rev range, but not sure if it would have the same affect on a euro 5, cheers

Just unplugging would eventually throw up fault codes

If I was to just blank my egr with the plate that arrived today would it throw up an engine management light or not??

Also, does anyone know where it is on the euro 5?

Cheers
