When your van cuts out does it happen under hard acceleration, up hill, overtaking etc. N

Your best bet for reading codes is forscan. It's a free proram for your pc or you can pay to get the iphone/android app. You just need to bu a ELM327 off ebay for about £5 and you can read all the codes and do lots of other diagnostics. I've used F-Super in the past ad Forscan is a lot more in depth and easy to use. Saying that F-Super would do the job fine too

There's a good chance it's an injector related issue, the 125 mk6's are renown for it. :(

hooked it up to a code reader, no codes were present? weird. when it happens it feels like the pump shuts down, but allways starts up straight away.

What code reader did you use? The pump is a dumb pump its the injectors that control the fuel flow my guessing is your going to need 1 or more injectors, do a leak back test to see what health the injectors are in, if your worried about the pump drain some fuel from the filter and check for swarf.
