Mk7 Transit 260 or 280? Pros and cons please!

Postby luke850 » Mon Mar 19, 2018 12:44 am

Hi all...

I’m looking at getting a 10-12 plate Mk7 Transit. Will mostly be used for running about to auctions and antique fairs, probably won’t be loaded to the rafters very often as I rent larger vans when needed. Want a swb as more practical day to day.

Other than the obvious 200kg extra payload weight capacity, are there any other pros and cons between the 260 and 280? What are your experiences and opinions?

Thanks in advance!

Of course if you ask mike  he'll tell you a story about the 260 having a nicer ride than the 280
But that's just bat sh*t I've had a 260 and a 280 and the only thing that makes any difference is the tyres and I have a sensitive hemoroid ridden arse

Thanks for replies chaps!

No one had any issues with the smaller bhp in the 260 then? Remapping looks the way to go with it.

You're getting a bit confused here, the 260 or 280 is the weight carrying ability, not the BHP.

Yeah I know, but the 260 always has the 85hp engine whereas the 280 often has the 115 I believe? Thanks.

Hmmm haven’t come across one of these yet. Can get remap to 115 anyway I guess.
