Mk 7 transit dpf

Postby mlucas110 » Wed Apr 25, 2018 8:39 am

Hi,
I seem to have an on going problem with my Transits dpf filters. Basically I run a local bus company round local roads with no motorways etc as there is none for some considerable miles.

The problem I have is that I run 8 2011-13 year transits which keep clogging up the dpf filters. By time the engine management light has come on they will not regenerate on our workshop computer and ford cannot get them to regenerate either. So as you expect a new dpf is shoved on. Iv had it on 2 so far and managed to have just a new vaporizer on another. Have only owned these buses for the the last 2 years all are under 70k miles so was abit unexpected

My question is, would it hurt to do a static regeneration as part of the service or at certain intervals to stop this happening or would this cause more damage than good? They do not go on long enough motorway journeys to do an active one so this is the only option I can see as this is getting expensive.

Any help or advice would be appreciated

If you have still got the old dpfs there are companies about that can clean the out also have seen a post on here abut cleaning them out your self with a pressure washer and drying them with a air line but you have to be careful

Yes I have looked into cleaning but with these ones I needed them back on the road as quick as possible because things are busy.

It was more of a case of by time I have booked in to have the part cleaned and taken off the part and put it back on again to find its still broken is what is putting me off. Was just hoping there was something I could do just to prevent this all happening quite so often.

Always the case that it will break in a busy time of year I suppose

The camper I have just built is based on a 65 plate 17 seat Minibus mk8 when I got it with 6500 kms on it a message on the came up saying 70% engine not running up to temperature so I can see that it’s a problem for Minibus opporatetors and the last thing you need is lost mileage
