Please help! (08 plate RWD)
I’ve got the suspension arm off but I am unable to get the ball joint to come out of the strut. Any ideas? Nothing I’ve tried has worked so far and I’m completely stuck!

Some are secured with two bolts and some have a circlip.
Circlip one has the clip on top of the joint, you remove the clip and then push the joint down out of the upright.
When you put the new joint in you're supposed to push on the outer of the joint to seat it.
For the bolted ones you remove the bolts then use a puller on the central thread to pull the joint down to get it out. The puller pushes against special studs in the bolt holes.
The new joint goes in with the same puller arrangement pushing on the joint outer.
You can't just pull it in with the bolts as this might bend the outer case.

From doing similar joints I'd suggest that getting the upright clean and free of rust helps a lot.
And you have to push the new joint in by pushing the outer part, not the inner stub and ball.
