Wiring stereo from the leisure battery.

Postby Andrew74 » Fri Jun 22, 2018 11:18 pm

Hi, I'm looking to wire a stereo into the back of my van. I've already got speakers in place plus a fuse board
Could anyone point in the right direction. Thanks

I have a Ford 6000 cd radio in the back of my camper all I’ve done for the power is take two power feeds from the leisure battery’s fuse box one a to the permanent live on the set and one to what would be the ignition switch feed with a switch in line to turn it off and on and to this switch I also wired up the feed that comes from the side lights so lights up like you are night driveing

Thanks, did you use terminal spades on the connections? Where I get a switch from to it on and off? Finally I've got some old copper wire from extension cable etc will this be ok to use?

Spade connections are fine. The extension cable you have should be ok, overkill, but ok. Dont forget to fuse it at your fuseboard which a similar rating the the stereo you are fitting. As in, if your stereo fuse is rated at 10a then dont put a 30a fuse in your fuseboard.
