hi all if your having running problems on lpg and the rpm filter don't fix it you could try cleaning the gas distributor.
which is located next to the vaporiser or regulator left hand side of engine bay.
It has some really tiny slits that let gas though and they get blocked very easy with waxy residue......that can give missfire and tickover problems also when engine is under load it can give weak mixture ..... http://www.autogasshop.co.uk you can get spares from here.
also have you looked up the website askanowner.com in the search bar put in necam-koltec it's a wealth of information kver on there can answer anything.....

I've had the fast-flashy green bottle light before (switches back to petrol) but I think it was due to overheating from prolonged high speeds (~85mph) long distance and running on French LPG which must be higher octane or better quality or something as you get better mpg. I had to turn off for 5-10 mins before it would work again as normal. Previously had a random misfire which was sorted out after the distributor was cleaned out and new vapour filter.

The problem your having sounds like fuel starvation to me,you will have to clean the gas divider or disributor it's the thing next to the vaparisor with the four
tubes coming out of the top of it and one big tube in the bottom of it.these little tiny slits in side that can get blocked with waxy residue and you can clean them out
with a thin feeler gauge

Cleaning Gas divider.
To clean the gas divider you best remove this out of the van by taking of the 4 small hoses
from the gas divider first.
Then take of the big hose and the 2 electrical connectors.
Check if there is any dirt in the filter from the big hose.
This dirt comes from a bad membrane.(vaparisor)
Then take off the stepper motor by unscrewing out the 2 imbus bolts.
Look out that the piston spring and ring don't jump out because if the
piston is damaged on the stepper motor. it won’t work ever again,
You can pull out the liner with the slits in, mind you don't lose the ballbearing at the top,
The two holes near the top of the liner will help, a hook can be used in the holes to ease it out
Now the cleaning can begin.
Spray brake cleaner into the 6 slits in the divider.
Wait 1 minute before blow the dirt and cleaner out of the divider by air pressure on the 4
output holes.
This can be done 2 or 3 times, so you are sure that al is perfectly clean.
The piston has to be sprayed with a little Teflon spray.
The O-ring needs a little grease before replacing, so it will not damaged by pressing
into the housing.
Refit every thing as reverse.then fit back on van
when all is connected the motor can be started, end everything can be checked for leaking by a
little soap with a little water.
To get more info lookup http://www.askanowner.com search for necam/koltec in search bar.
it's a great site for our gas problems kver on there knows a hell of alot and works on these gas system's
and can get the parts, hope this can help? :D

Thanks for the very informative replies, very helpfull indeed to me and good for future folk with the same problems..

BUT!, in an earlier post i said that the themostat was sticking open and not allowing the engine to reach its 88 degree running temp, i wondered if this may upset the LPG brain, well the answer is YES IT DOES, today i put a new thermastat in and now the LPG stays on HOORRAY!! , ...but ... :( , it still wont idle on gas, but if all goes well the new RPM filter should arrive sometime tommorow , i will let you know what happens when i fit it . :D

What I did to replace the RPM filter is this.

Undo the three star screws from the steering column shroud and remove.Undo the four screws holding the clocks shroud and remove. Then undo the two screws to the right hand vent/light switch panel and the screw underneath and there are your relays and the RPM filter above. It has one nut securing it.............awkward.Use a small socket wrench.Change the filter and step the relays up one as they do get lazy.
Might try the thermostat change too.

Thanks for the help with this. What do you mean when you say step the relays up as they get lazy. Thanks :)

Certain relays do very little,so do get "lazy".These are all the same.So just step them up a place ie.1 to 2,2to 3 etc.

hi m4tty you can get to the the relays and necam ecm /rpm filter from under the dash board up near the peddles,
just the one torq head bolt holds all mine up then lower it down into the footwell and you can work on it from there easy.
move the ecm from the holder to gain access to the rpm filter.after you have changed the filter reset the system buy taking
out the two fuse's that power it.
They can be found left hand side of dash next to the main fuse's two little 7.5 fuses pop them out for 5 min's that will clear the
faults in the ecm necam management system. i suggest you remove the fuse's before you work around all the above anyway just as a precaution.
also if you don't get any joy from replacing the rpm filter you can clean the gas distrbutor that works wonders you can buy a refurbish kit for that too.
And yes it's a good idea to move the relays about two space up because the first two relays from the left hand side do the most work switching tank and
gas vaporizer solenoid. hope this helps abit........

I done this today (disconnected the battery) to reset the ecus after fitting a new lambda sensor. Not sure if you have to reset ecu after fitting a new sensor but i did it anyway and it hasent done any harm just lost the radio code. Have you fitted the RPM filter yet crossfirerob? Mine should be arriving tomorrow so hopefully this may be the last piece of our jigsaw. If not were get there in the end.

Thanks to other posters on this thread for all the information its much appreciated.

Cheers

The two fuses that control the necam system are as follows fuse one is a live from the ignition switch and controls the relays and ecm.
fuse two is a permanant feed always live.and powers the ecm.either way if one of these fuses are missing the gas system won't work.
